Auditory Verbal Therapy is a highly specialized program provided to children who have undergone cochlear implant surgery. The aim is to develop children’s auditory and speech skills, and help them assimilate into formal schools. The therapy is provided through certified speech and language therapists and special educators. The facility is equipped with sound treated rooms, and latest methodologies are used to provide the therapy. Parents are involved in every step of their child’s development. The parents are also provided counselling and assisted in accessing government schemes and concessions.

Ashray Akruti celebrates Independence Day with patriotic fervour

Ashray Akruti celebrated 73rd Independence day on 15th August with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour . Students of Ashray Akruti Schools in Hyderabad gathered at Srinagar Colony High School premises to commemorate the nation’s independence. The premises wore a festive look with tricolour national flags and balloons decorated all over the place . The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Venkat Gopu Senior Director, Qualcomm. The Chief Guest garlanded the photo of Mahatma Gandhi, national flag was unfurled followed by rendering of National Anthem .

The students put up a marvellous cultural programme which included dance, mime ,fancy dress. The performance of all the students from the tiny tots of Early Intervention Centre to older students in High School demonstrated their wide range of abilities and left the audience spellbound.

Volunteers from Qualcomm conducted Quiz for the students and distributed chocolates to them. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest , Mr. Venkat Gopu appreciated the work done by Ashray Akruti to make a difference in the lives of children with disability. Mr. Babu thanked all the guests for their support to Ashray Akruti and the cause Disability.

Guests were presented mementos , the programme came to an end with a vote of thanks.

IPS Probationary Officers Visit Ashray Akruti

IPS probationary officers from Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel National Police Academy officers visited Ashray Akruti Schools as part of their training programme . The visit was aimed at sensitizing the trainee officers towards the marginalized sections of the society. The officers visited the schools located at Srinagar Colony, Yakutpura and Chandrayangutta. They observed the Mobile Ear and Hearing clinic, Diagnostic Lab and the Multimedia and Computer Animation center.

Ms. Shasikala ,Academic Director Ashray Akruti briefed the trainees about the vision and mission of Ashray Akruti and the various projects the organization is implementing in the areas of Health, Education and Skill Development to improve the lives of people with disability.

The officers visited the classes and interacted with the students, they were overwhelmed with the response of the students . They were also impressed with the artwork done by the students. The officers also lauded the efforts of the educators in mentoring and guiding the students.

Wipro Cares facilitates AA Educators for a workshop on Experiential Learning

Ms. Shahnaz , Principal Ashray Akruti High School and Ms. Asma Mubeen , Special Educator attended a six day workshop from 23rd to 28th September conducted by Disha India Foundation at Gurgaon on Experiential Learning. The workshop focussed on how our existing education system can be transformed by including experiential learning in schools as this improves the cognitive and comprehension skills of the students. The workshop included 2 expeditions, One on Nature, another one on History.
Reader’s workshop, writer’s workshop and illustration classes were conducted by different experts.

The workshop helped the Special Educators to upgrade their knowledge. The learnings will also help in implementing the teaching methodology in Schools.

AA Speech therapist attends Workshop on ‘Basics of Habilitation’ by Advanced Bionics

Ms. Vishala Eppa, Speech Language Pathologist, Ashray Akruti attended a three day workshop on the ‘ Basics of habilitation’ organized by Advanced Bionics at Bangalore . The workshop was conducted by Ms. Mithila Poonacha, Manager – Habilitation, Advanced Bionics. The workshop covered topics such as approaches to listening and communication, Monitoring of Outcomes, Tools of assessment , Update on AB Implant Technology. PWC Workshop for NGOs

PWC organized a one day workshop for NGOs to introduce them to topics that are of importance currently, Ashray Akruti employees from Projects, Accounts , Human Resource and Fund Raising , departments attended the workshop.

The topics included Energy Efficiency, Risk and Controls, Tax Compliances, Accounting for NGOs and HR practices. The topics were explained in a simple and lucid manner that really helped the team to understand the subjects.

Certification Ceremony - Multimedia and Animation Unit

Students who successfully completed the course in Multimedia and Animation were awarded certificates at a certification ceremony held on 3rd August ,2019.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr.Santanu Guha, Vice President of SHV Energy, the Guests of honor included Mr. Sreeman Narayana Kadali, Member Board, Super Gas, Dr. Hymamurthy and Ms. Shasikala, Academic Director, Ashray Akruti. Mr. Ramesh Gattu, Project Coordinator of the centre welcomed the guests and briefed about the course, Ms.Shashikala briefed about the organization and its services.

Mr. Sreeman Narayana Kadali lauded the vision and efforts of the organization led by D.P.K Babu, founder Director of Ashray Akruti. He said he has been observing Ashray Akruti for the past ten years and happy to observe the growth of the organization and its efforts to reach out to children and youth with disability .Mr. Santanu Guha speaking on the occasion appreciated the skill training for ‘Divyangjan’ which has opened up new opportunities of employment the disabled youth.

This was followed by the distribution of certificates to the students. Chief Guest and Guests of honour felicitated all the meritorious students.

Ms. Anusha proposed the vote of thanks concluding the ceremony.

State Bank of India Staff Union ,Hyderabad extend support to Ashray Akruti

Employees of State Bank of India, Ameerpet Branch , donated a water cooler and a water purifier for the students of Ashray Akruti. The donation was in memory of Union Leader Tharak Nath Garu in whose memory Union Day is celebrated. Comrade Shri. K.Srinivasa Sarma , President SBI staff union Hyderabad Circle , Shri Janardhan Chary , Deputy General Secretary attended the event held at Ashray Akruti High School ,Srinagar Colony.

Vegetable Carving and Chocolate making sessions for students

Wave foundation organized a Vegetable carving demonstration for the school children at Sri Nagar colony by well-known artist and Chef Mr. Raju. Mr. Raju’ s art of carving vegetables into cartoon characters left the children excited and awe struck.

The Foundation also organized Chocolate making session for the students. Ms. Pooja, an expert in making confectionaries gave a demo class. She taught how to prepare delicate chocolates and also explained about healthy and unhealthy aspects of sweets.

Ashray Akruti Students have somethings to teach the corporate employees

Ashray Akruti students visited Arcesium and conducted a session on Tile Painting for the employees. The employees were also introduced to the basics of Sign Language.

The employees attended the sessions with great enthusiasm, it provided them an opportunity to learn something new from the students.

Students of Multimedia and Computer Animation Course attend TEDX Hyderabad Limitless

It was great opportunity for the students of Multimedia and Animation Couse to be part of the TEDx Hyderabad limitless event conducted on 22nd September. The keynote speakers were Mr. Sudhanshu Mani Ex-General Manager of Indian Railways, Ms. Neha Agarwal Olympian, Mr. Sreerama Chandra Mynampati Indian Playback Singer, Ms. Rachel Thomas Skydiver, Dr. R S Praveen Kumar IPS, Mr. Sri Priyatham Art Artist, Mr. Zabi Khan Animal Rights Activist, Mr. Chintakindi Mallesham Entrepreneur, Mr. Raj Rachakonda Indian Movie Director, Dr. Archana Sharma Scientist, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Mr. Suheim Sheikh Sailor turned Coach, Ms. Gitanjali J B, Social Entrepreneur & Dr. Praveen Chintapanti, Psychiatrist. The speakers shared their experiences and thoughts to the audience on various subjects.

The topics for the day included making of Vande Bharat Express (Train 18), Skydiving, Playback Singing, Table Tennis, Animal Rights, Belly Dance, Karate, Self-Help Group (SHG), End of Life & Built Environment.

The students were introduced to variety of subjects and came back enthused listening to the motivating talks of the speakers.

Amazon India hires a student of Sign Language Course

C. Gunashekhar works as sign language interpreter at Amazon , he is a happy man today. Gunashekhar was very worried and anxious about his life couple of months back. He is the eldest among the children in the family . His family was going through serious financial problems as his father , the only earning member of the family had serious health issues and was out of work. Gunashekhar who has completed his graduation was desperately looking for a job to support the family. It was at this time he came to know about the sign language course being offered by Ashray Akruti and decided to enroll in the course. He completed the course successfully and was assisted to find employment with Amazon. Today he bridges the communication gap between 30 deaf employees and other staff at Amazon.

Boots and Crampons volunteers conducted games like River crossing, jumaring and building roping. for students from Grade 2 to 10 .

NVIDIA employees volunteered for the community outreach program at NVIDIA Government Primary School at Filmnagar .They assisted in registration of the children for the camp and also providing medicines to the children.

J P Morgan employees visited Ashray Akruti and distributed the school kits to all the students. The team interacted with the school children by playing Musical chairs, Kabaddi, Badminton and cricket.

Amazon employees volunteered at the Multimedia and Computer Animation and took session on MS Office and PPT.

HSBC volunteers along with students of Ashray Akruti together created Eco friendly Ganesh idols on occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

PwC Volunteers conducted a session and on Water and the importance of saving water to the students of Grade 7th to 9th.

D E Shaw employees volunteered at the Multidisability Centre at Borabanda. The volunteers helped with the group therapies for children under the supervision of therapists . They interacted with children and played games like bowling ,ball in the box etc. Volunteers also helped in preparing case histories of the children.

State street employees organized Football Match at Inorbit Mall for 35 students .

Absyz software consulting employees visited Ashray Akruti and conducted a session on Origami. They also donated hearing aids, two tier cots and served special meal to the students.
