Madiha is able to listen and talk now
Baby Madiha Ahmed a 4 yrs. old child, identified by Ashray Akruti team as she was not responding to noises of the surroundings or the vehicles sound passing by & was referred to hearing clinic for audiological evaluation. She was having both speech and hearing disability, later diagnosed as having profound hearing loss. Her father working as a daily wage earner who earns barely Rs. 8000/- per month and her mother is a home maker, they were struggling to meet both the ends.
Counseling was offered to Madiha’s parents about the child’s future and also the option of undergoing Cochlear Implant Surgery was suggested by us. However their economic condition was so bad that they could not afford for series tests to qualify for Cochlear Implant Surgery.
We had to walk an extra mile in identifying a donor to support the entire cost of the surgery and rehabilitation for the child.
Later we had to zero-in and coordinated with team of specialists in The Hans Foundation, New Delhi, in order to offer support to the beneficiary. She underwent Cochlear Implant Surgery successfully at Apollo Hospital on the 28th of Dec 2020, with the support of The Hans Foundation
Now things have changed shares her mother happily with her eyes full of tears and also added that earlier the child could neither hear to the sounds of playing toys nor play with the peer group.
