Event: World Disability Day
The “World Disability Day” was organized and by National Mineral Development Corporation in coordination with Ashray Akruti at Shilparamam for 1200 children from 10 Hearing Impaired schools in Hyderabad on 3rd December 2008 at Sampradaya Vedika, Shilparamam. The dignitaries for the event were Minister of Women Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare, Smt.N.Rajyalakshmi and Commissioner for Disability Welfare, Smt.Anita Rajendra. The Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, Mr.Rana Som and The Director of Production Mr.Venkatesan inaugurated the event. The key person behind the idea of this event was Mr.Bandakavi, Nodal Officer, Corporate Social Responsibility of NMDC.
A Painting competition was conducted for all the children at the venue. Master Shivaji received the 1st prize in the competition in the senior’s category. Games and Magic show were also organized for the children followed by lunch and cultural programs by all the schools. NMDC donated computers, LCD projector, uniforms and utensils for all the children. The event was a huge success.
Event: 10K Run
20 Children and 2 teachers from Ashray Akruti registered and participated in the 10K Run on 30th November 2008 at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road. There were more than 30,000 participants who assembled at 6:00 AM for the run. The Chief Minister Y.S. Rajshekar Reddy flagged the event. Celebrities Venkatesh, Karunya and many others also participated in the event.

The children of Ashray Akruti celebrated Children’s Day on 14th November 2008 in Krishna Kant Park in Yousufguda with lots of pomp and gaiety. Mr. Bandhakavi and Mr.Joshi from NMDC graced the occasion. A dance, skit and fashion show was performed showcasing the talent of the students. Games were organized for the children by the teachers and volunteers followed by prize distribution and lunch. The children had a great time in the park.

Event: Global Service day

Event at the school:
On the Occasion of Global Service day, 12 Volunteers from Motorola conducted a drawing competition for the children from class Nursery to class III. The theme of the event was about the environment. Children participated in the competition with great fervor. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition. The volunteers also showed a small movie on Recycling and saving energy to the children and teachers.
Event in KBR Park:
Children from classes V to VIII were taken on a nature trek to KBR park with 20 volunteers from Motorola. They had an amazing trekking experience in the nature of the Park. The volunteers interacted with the children and played different games. A snake show was also organized by KBR park officials. Children had lunch at the park which was also arranged by the volunteers. Chocolates were distributed to all the children.

Event: Oracle Global Volunteers Day

30 employees of Oracle volunteered for the Global Volunteers Day. The volunteers arranged breakfast for the children and staff of the school in the morning before the transportation arrived for the trip to Ocean Park in Gandipet. The children had lots of fun in the water and played games in the park. It was a memorable trip for the children and teachers of Ashray Akruti.
