Kite Festival

Ashray Akruti has been organising the Kite Festival in Hyderabad since 2004. The event is the annual fund raising event of the organization and invites professional kite flyers from across the country to showcase their latest kite creations. Through the kite festival, we also aim to create awareness among other citizens about the difficulties faced by speech and hearing-impaired students.  

The 5th Annual Kite Festival was organized at the People’s Plaza, Necklace Road on the 13th and 14th of January, 2008.

The event was a grand success, in terms of generating funds as well as spreading awareness about hearing disability. The event was widely covered by various radio stations and newspapers of Hyderabad, and also by television channels like CNN-IBN, E-TV, Maa TV, etc. The event also saw extensive participation from corporate companies as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Below are the highlights of the 5th Annual Kite Festival:

• Kite flying by professional kite flyers
• Display of designer kites with social messages made by children and professional kites made by the connoisseurs
• Rangoli competition
• Painting and slogan writing competition for children
• Entertainment for the visitors and children with activities like mimicry, ventriloquism and magic show
• Live performance by Chakri, a popular Telugu music director, and his group on the evening of 13th of January.
• Live performance by Preety Bhalla, a Bollywood singer specialising in Sufi music, on 14th January evening.
