Kite Festival

Ashray Akruti celebrates its Disability Awareness program Kite Festival annually- a two day event for the family, which is a joy to behold! This year the event took place on 14th & 15th January at the Military Training area, Polo Grounds, Secunderabad, to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the hearing impaired and gain resources for Ashray Akruti’s ongoing dedicated service in the field of hearing impairment. This year Ashray Akruti joined hands with Corps of EME to celebrate Kite festival as part of their 9th Reunion ceremony.

 

Mr.B.Prasada Rao, Commissioner of Police, was the chief guest for the inaugural function. Ms.Sneha Ullal, Ms. Madhushalini and Ms. Priyamani were some of the celebrity guests who graced the occasion and also participated in kite-flying. The guests and the children had a lot of fun flying kites and were very glad to associate with the social cause.

 

The event included Kite flying by eminent kitists from different parts of the country and Rangoli competition. As Ashray Akruti works for children, it provided safe kite flying ground for the children.

World Disability Day

Ashray Akruti celebrated World Disability Day on 3rd December 2011 at Nagarjuna Community Hall, Ameerpet, Hyderabad. World Disability Day is a yearly reminder of what each nation, community, group, and individual can offer to improve the conditions for the disabled and how these people can be integrated in the mainstream society.

 

Ms.Dr.N.V.Bhavani, Paediatrician graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other guests of honor included Mr. C.V.Rao, CEO, Global Telelinks; Mrs Sangeeta Varma, Principal, Richmonds High School; Mr P.S.Gunaranjan, Director, United Care Development Centre; Mr Sanjeev Chintawar, Business Manager, NECC; Mr.G.G.B.Rami Reddy, Branch Manager, SBH, Srinagar Colony;; Mr. Ravish G. Daway, General Manager, Quality Inn Residency; Ms.Manvi Mahana, Volunteer, Ashray Akruti; Mr. D.P.K. Babu, Director, Ashray Akruti.

 

D.P.KBabu, the Director of Ashray-Akruti strongly believes that ‘the disabled should not be segregated in the community and they are very much a part of the society. In fact Ashray Akruti was born out of a dream to provide a dignified life to the persons with hearing impairment’.

 

Dr.Bhavani appreciated the efforts of the organization and assured whatever the help that is possible from her side.She said”It is because of the organisations such as Ashray Akruti children with special needs are getting the right facilities”.

 

Mr.C.V.Rao said “The community should be more sensitive to the persons with special needs and help them to realize their full potential. In fact there are plenty of opportunities where we can include such persons in the various activities which will help them to live with dignity and self respect”.

 

The Activities performed at the venue
• Assembling of Solar Lanterns for LaBl of TERI India-Light up a Billion Lives
• Clay Pot Painting,
• Painting contest
• Special Cultural Performances by the children with Hearing Impairment -Kolatam, Classical dance by Manasa, Fancy dress parade, Mime show,Chak De India, Karate skills display: all by the special children.

 

World Disability Day was organized by Ashray Akruti to send a special message to the society that handicapped children can be integrated into the mainstream and also live with dignity.

 

Childrens Day

Ashray Akruti celebrated Children’s day on 14th November, Monday at 9 AM at its premises. On this very special occasion ScienceLab is being setup with the support from IBM India Pvt ltd. Volunteers from IBM will also demonstrated the science experiments to the students to create impact in understanding the concepts.

 

As part of IBM’s 100 Years Celebration of Service, Ashray Akruti has been provided with a grant to fund the setting up of a Science Lab and take up a project to build interactive learning content for hearing impaired students. The school is being provided with two high end multimedia workstations for developing the learning content, licenses for the multimedia software and one workstation to host the learning content. The science lab will have equipment, models, charts, books and digital content covering physics, chemistry, biology and math Subjects for 8th to 10th standard students.

 

Project would help students to learn and understand the concepts well and have a better learning curve and enable them to join the mainstream schools early.

 

City Plus of Dainik Jagaran , the English weekly tablet was partnered to provide fun to the children by organizing games and giving away the prizes for the winners.Cityplus is a new venture of Jagran Prakashan Ltd, publisher of world’s largest read newspaper Dainik Jagran Swati pearls and Jewellers , Keerthi Aqua and Scope industries, Lakshmi prints and Packs are also supporting the event.
Wipro volunteers conducted games for the children in the afternoon session from 2PM to 3-30 PM followed with prize distribution

 

Counselling Camp

Counseling Camp was organized by L.V.Prasad Eye Hospital , Hyderabad on 8th February 2012.The parents were counseled on managing the stress.

 

Dental Camp

Dental camp was organized on 10th November’2012 with the help of our volunteer Dr.Chandana P.Sri Sai Dental college along with the team of doctors organized the camp for all the children and staff of Ashray Akruti.

 

PRCI

Public Relation council of India has organized an outing for the children of Ashray Akruti to Dholare Dhani, a Rajasthani Ethnic Village in the month of March’2012.

 

The children have particiapated in various games, show cased their special talent.

 

The members of PRCI interacted with the special children and organized a Magiacal show and a stumpeous meal for the children and the staff.

 

The event was widely covered in the print and electronic media.
